Laogai and the rising Chinnese economy
A chinense man once said " The aid of our country comes from those who dishonor it " In the early stages of laogai in the 50's. the message was to stop the rebalous people of the country and remind the people to who they owe the loyalty too.In the early stages of Laogai in the 50's the goal was detain all of the rebelious groups and suspected people of treasion. In 1979 only an estamated 5000 people where detained in the Laogai prison system. Currently there are over 6 million people in some 1000 labor camps.
Free and Endless Supply of Workers
China's economy grew greatly though the Laogia camps. In the 1950's the Laogia system basically brain washed the slave workers to increase economy for the republic of China. The estmates from the Laogai Research Foundation there are 6.8 million people incarcerated in China's labor camps. Reports from the instatution show that the workers at the camps work twenty-hour work days. The leaders of the camps are very violent and some workers choose suisaide over being beaten, starved, or worked to death. Inmates who fall behind or disobey are beaten, sexually assalted, shocked with electric batons, or put in solitary confinement. The citezins who make up these camps are either criminals, political prisoners, pratictions of the spiritual practice Falun Gong or a combonation of them. They now make up half of the Laogai labor system.
People Who Support Slave Labor
Laogia's Forced labor camps have become a form of torture and pour into China's economy. The Labor Camps produce products for Banana Republic, Neiman Marcus, Bon Genie, Holt Renfrew, and French Connection. Productsmade in these facilities and made by people who are forced to work in unsafe and unhealthy conditions. Sick laborers are still forced to work. Many are not allowed to take showers. It allows all the matter to come in contact with the products that are then shipped all over the world.
